Hansol Kim

Hansol Kim is a pianist and educator from South Korea, currently pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Houston. She holds a Performer’s Diploma from Southern Methodist University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Chonnam National University in South Korea. During her studies at SMU, she was named a recipient of the Meadows Artistic Scholarship Award.

As an active soloist and collaborative pianist, Hansol has performed in various recitals and concerts, earning recognition in several competitions including first prize in the Gwangju Music Association Competition and top awards in the Korea National Student Music Competition. In South Korea, she served as the principal accompanist for both the Arang Chamber Music Society and the soloist ensemble Il Teatro. Since moving to the United States, she has continued to maintain an active performing schedule as a chamber musician and vocal collaborator.

As an instructor, Hansol has extensive teaching experience across private music studios and university settings, serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at both the University of Houston and Southern Methodist University. In her teaching, she strives to help students build a long-lasting relationship with music, viewing it as a vehicle for self-reflection, maturity, and personal growth. She aims to walk alongside her students on their musical journey, supporting them in discovering their own expressive voice while instilling healthy piano technique and thoughtful practice habits.
